Shhh...

It is not really trout season until Thursday...so...I may have caught 7 trout yesterday...one may have been 25 inches long, about 5 pounds...none less than 15 inches long...I may have pictures of three of them...not the largest...I will post pictures later in the week...they may be from the 1st...one never knows does one?
Either way...details will follow at the end of the week with photos of the fish...whenever I caught them...

Never ripped the deck down...it will get done soon...

Arrived here today at noon and did one more mix of the song "Faces". It is perfect now!!! Well as perfect as I can get it without being a complete mental case!

"Abandoned" is up now...it is going to take all night!

I just got a PM here about Ash...I am so sorry to hear about the eyes...I hope that all works out in the end. I am sure that everyone here is pulling for you. If there is ever a need to get me to try and find more help, I will do whatever I can.

I am going to get some coffee and get back to work...chilly here again in NY...I like it...makes for a good mix!

April Fools!!!!!

I never had a chance to get online last night late...Paul Morris came by the studio and the night was a bit more festive than anticipated!

Plus...my studio internet line went down...so today I was forced to work via my cell phone. In the end I purchased a new bowling game for my phone....very addictive. I bowled a 239!

"Abandoned" is done! "Never" is 90%...

"Abandoned" is insane...this song is 11 minutes 42 seconds long....the intro is 5 minutes...3:30 of it is a guitar solo!

There are a ton of guitar solos on this CD. "Never" is almost 7 minutes long now cuz I decided to keep the whole end solo!

Fuck it, it is my CD!!!!!

I just finished my business for the day and listened to the new mixes...I am very happy. I had to clear space on a back-up drive...the session is now over 80G!!!! Yikes!!!!

I was happy when Paul Morris listened to "Abandoned"...he just said that some very famous singers have competition now...it made me feel good, I worked so hard on my voice. The vocal is desperate and emotional...I think the guy singing the song has a lot on his mind!

It seems like the Saturday chat will be pretty cool!

Howdy...

Mixing away here. We finished the song "Never" earlier...Then we put up "The Mold". This has to be the most aggressive song I have ever recorded in my life. It was an extremely difficult mix. Then again...nothing is simple here! "Abandoned" took 2 days...I still think I can be finished with CD #1 by the and of the week. We shall see.

My biggest problem now is the length of the "Faces" CD. It may be too long for a CD. So...1 or two songs may be sent to GDW as bonus tracks...we shall see. The CD as it stands now is 86 minutes. Yikes...I added intros and extended solos that put it over the edge...but...I don't really want to edit things. Who knows?!?!?!?!

OK...I am going back to work...wired on Greek coffee and Diet Pepsi...yet stuffed on Indian food...unique combination of food coma and caffeine! Astoria rules for food! I think this is why I am doing 30 songs...so I can eat out every day!!!!

Hi,

As it nears midnight I sit in the studio trying to get mix #3 set up for the day. We did a final tweek of "The Mold" when we arrived. Then we just finished "Last Time".

Both of these songs are very heavy...we decided to put up "So Far Today". This song is more moody...I would not call it a ballad, it is more like a slow heavy rock song. Hard to describe. Lots of background vocals...almost every word.

In 5 minutes it will be April 3rd. All of us in Savatage land know that this is the late Criss Oliva's birthday. I want to take this time to wish him and his spirit a happy birthday. Sometimes I wonder where my life would be if I had not run into the Oliva's. Criss has been such a big influence on me musically. Spiritually... For the past 9 years I have been playing his solos in Savatage. Each time I listen to his music I find new and exciting things in his playing. He was such a natural. It is always an honor for me to play his music. It is also an honor to be able to talk about him and his memory.

Saturday night...technically tonite...we are having a chat here on Chris Caffery.com.

The chat will run from 7PM 'til 11PM...we can all discuss and celebrate Criss' birthday here. I will be in the studio...a place that I always feel close to him. Especially as I sit alone working on my CD. As a guitarist I try to drum up as many spirits as possible...he is always close to my heart and my playing.

I hope to see you tomorrow night and I thank you all once again for giving me the opportunity to have the site and the fans who care enough to keep it going!!!!

The big surprise being Dr. Killdrums!!! Of course bringing up how fucked up we were on the Gutter Tour....Oh how we've changed!?

Mixing went great today! Finished "So Far Today". "Jealousy" is 99% there!!!!

A re-mix of "Music Man" next and then we are finished for the week. "Forever We'll Be" may be retired to WAR and "Pisses Me Off" needs editing....SO...."Faces" CD #1 is 95% done!!! 

Stevie B was here...Igor...Butch and a friend from high school...Greek John and 2 Greek friends...fun day!

Again Happy Birthday Criss Oliva...thanks for the memories, friendship and inspiration! Eternally....
