Summary: Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Savatage guitarist Chris Caffery shines like a diamond on his first solo CD. ‘Faces’ is an intense, in-your-face, brutal and lethal sixteen track metal masterpiece. It is very evident from this release is that Caffery truly is a profound songwriter, gifted vocalist and a phenomenal guitarist. His impressive six-string shredding, especially during the intro to the humorous “Pisses Me Off,” and the brilliant instrumental “Preludio,” is absolutely mind numbing. Most of this CD is pure tradition metal, however on the track “Music Man,” Caffery and band take a break from the sonic fury and successfully venture off to the land of melodic prog.
Many may have never figured Caffery capable of writing such an amazing and groundbreaking CD, but he most certainly has and in doing so has raised the bar a few notches. This CD will surely catapult Caffery to Metal God status. I dare anyone to find a better hard rock CD that has been released during the last year. So, do yourself a favor and buy 'Faces' now metalheads!!! You will not be disappointed.
